When any reliable inspector visits a factory for a client’s
order, he or she is looking to be able to complete a comprehensive inspection
in a relatively short amount of time, with infinitely detailed checkpoints.
While seemingly on the “opposing team” from the factory, inspectors will
generally ask for assistance from the factory to complete the inspection within
the time constraints. Some factories claim they do not have the man-power to
help or simply are unwilling due to their disdain for the inspector.
But is it normal for an inspector to request the factory’s
help? And if so what can the factory be of assistance with?
Any client-friendly factory should be willing to assist with
the inspection. Not only will it create more reliable results, but for the
factory it will get the inspector out of their hair sooner!
What
assistance inspector can get from the factory BEFORE an inspection?
Promptly confirm
the date and location for inspection
Pick up the
inspector at the nearest bus stop to and ensure right location and avoid delays
Make sure that
products are all located in the same facility.
What
specifically can a factory assist with during the inspection?
Provide an
appropriate, well-lit room for inspection
Move selected
cartons to the inspection room
Provide necessary
inspection tools or testing equipment
Open the carton
under supervision from inspector
Re-pack inspected
products into the carton
How can a
factory cooperate AFTER an inspection?
Send out the
sample as soon as possible when sample picking is necessary
Drop the inspector
to local bus station, especially if the factory is out of the way.
Make sure to explain to your factory that they are to assist
the inspector, and treat the inspector as an extension of your company. This
way, your inspections will go more smoothly and thus the chances of finding
defects will improve!
